Hawaii

Honeymoon Destination: Itinerary Inspiration

As one of the most sought-after vacation destinations in the world, Hawaii is a chain of tropical islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Big Island of Hawaii

Known as the "Island of Adventure," the Big Island of Hawaii offers you everything from towering volcanoes and magma flows at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to black sandy shores at Punalu'u Beach to historic museums and shopping at Kailua Village. The Garden Isle of Kauai welcomes you with an abundance of lush greenery, endless blue skies and the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" known as Waimea Canyon.

Maui

Maui, referred to as "The Magic Isle," is the second largest island and is full of beaches, dense rainforests and quaint towns. Take a scenic 65-mile joy ride on "Road to Hana" or visit the Molokini Crater Marine Sanctuary to admire pods of dolphins and whales and snorkel around an underwater crater swimming with marine life.

Oahu

Oahu, known as the heart of Hawaii, is a big surf spot famous for the Banzai Pipeline. Hike the Manoa Falls, attend a luau in Waikiki or explore the historic grounds of Pearl Harbor. Every island in Hawaii will bring you breathtaking views and exciting adventures!

Molokai

The birthplace of hula and the least visited of the major Hawaiian Islands, Molokai oozes the Spirit of Aloha. With no resort scene or tourist traps, this is a great choice to slow down and connect with the island vibe. Home to one of the longest coral reefs in the US, it's the place to be for a visit full of beach days, hiking, and relaxing scenic drives.

Lanai

Only 9 miles away from Maui, Lanai is one of the smallest inhabited islands. If you're planning a honeymoon in Hawaii, we'd suggest including this gem as part of any island hopping. Garden of the Gods and Poaiwa Petroglyphs are a few of many historic landmarks to visit. While there aren't any direct flights from the US to Lanai, it can be easily accessed via connecting flights on Oahu and Maui or via the Expeditions Ferry between Maui and Lanai.

Kauai

"The Garden Island," Kauai, makes for a green, paradisiacal, and nature filled getaway. Dive into the Princeville Botanical Gardens, explore the Kalalau Trail, and wander at the Wailua Falls. Whether you're looking for a luxurious or more budget conscious stay, Kauai has accommodations for all including our partner Koa Kea Hotel & Resort.

What's the Best Island for a Hawaiian Honeymoon?

While each island has its own character and drawing points, Honeymoon Wishes recommends Maui for a Hawaiian honeymoon that will check everything on your wishlist. Luxury stays, guided tours, romantic beaches, and personalized experiences are easily accessible while visiting.

Which Island is the Most Romantic?

The answer to this question may differ depending who you ask and what you consider to be romantic. If a more secluded and nature filled island honeymoon is what you're looking for, visit Kauai. However, if volcanoes and an activity packed itinerary are what you're after, consider The Big Island.

Climate & Weather

The Hawaiian Islands have a tropical climate with minor temperature changes throughout the year. There are two seasons: summer (kau) from May to October and winter (ho'oilo) from November to April. Water temperatures stay warm, while temperatures in the summer reach the high 70s and 80s and cool slightly in the winter to low 60s and 70s. Most of the rain falls in the mountains and northeastern side of the islands. Overall, the weather is pleasant with plenty of sunshine year-round.
